Walking through the crowded streets among the people
thinking to myself “is it here where I should be?”
fancy old cars driving down the hills at night.
Going to new places where we’ve never been,
making one-night friends while I pretend to feel
warm and calm when nothing seems alright
We were young and eager to be free
but maybe you were right,
we weren’t prepared enough,
then I did something wrong
and finally you told me
“this feeling is all gone”
So sorry that I’m not the person you once thought,
because honestly I’m lost
All this time I’ve intended to be
messing around trying not think,
smoking all my dreams while I’m turning into dust
Getting into fights when it’s barely midnight,
wandering through the city in this endless dream
when my biggest nightmare is not being you and me
We were young and eager to be free
but maybe you were right,
we weren’t prepared enough,
then I did something wrong
and finally you told me
“this feeling is all gone”
So sorry that I’m not the person you once thought,
because honestly I’m lost
Every now and then I spend some time just thinking,
do you have the feeling that at least we tried?
I guess we will never know while time keeps passing by
We were young and eager to be free
but maybe you were right,
we weren’t prepared enough,
then I did something wrong
and finally you told me
“this feeling is all gone”
So sorry that I’m not the person you once thought,
because honestly I’m lost
Musically this feels more experimental for La Dispute reminding me of their Here, Hear releases. Very atmospheric and easy to lose your self in. Perfect for the next time you’re contemplating your existence. (Also found out the guitarist builds his own pedals and used them on this record; neato!) Mikey
